There’s no doubt that the way in which we snap pics has drastically changed over the past 20 years and drones are taking it to the next level. Unlike its human counterparts, drone pics can capture breathtaking aerial shots and close-up portraits that can only be achieved by a tiny flying robot (or a bird with a camera).

1) Rock Climbing – Moab, Utah
This incredible photo was shot in June 2016. It’s of a climber navigating a cliff in the hot Moab Desert in Utah. It won 1st place in the “Sports Adventure” category at the 3rd Annual International Drone Photography Awards carried out by Dronestagram.
2) Cable Beach – Broome, Australia
2nd place winner of the 3rd Annual International Drone Photography Awards, this drone pic was snapped in May 2016. It overlooks the famous Cable Beach in Western Australia.
3) A Patch of Pines – Naestved, Denmark
Taken in January 2016, the photographer had this to say about the drone pic: “On one of my first real photo flights with my phantom 3 I was lucky enough to find this amazing scene. A patch of pines in the middle of the forest, passed by a small creek.”
4) Summer Camp of Gran Canaria, Spain
This drone pic was shot in June 2016 with a DJI Phantom 2 vision drone in Amadores, Spain. It won 3rd place in the “Travel” category at the 3rd Annual International Drone Photography Awards.
5) Basilica of St Francis of Assisi, Umbria, Italy
The grand prize winner at the 3rd Annual International Drone Photography Awards. Here, the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi is captured at sunset with the city immersed in the fog.
